PAS girls’ tennis squad looks respectable against The Sting following rough weekend in Montevideo
With a tough weekend of tennis behind it, the PAS girls’ tennis team squared off against the visiting Yellow Medicine East Sting Monday morning. While the Arrows fell, 5-2, PAS head coach Ed Gustafson was happy that his girls played a better brand of tennis against the Sting.

A 5-4 football team a year ago, the Arrows will look to improve on that record in 2008 and stay competitive in the ever-tough Southwest Conference. “We know going into the first game against Eden Valley-Watkins that we’re going to have our hands full,” Pipestone Area head coach Troy Bouman said.

Eagles’ comeback not enough, fall 4-3 to Scarlets in overtime
Down 3-0 with 20 minutes remaining in their season opener against the visiting Mankato West Scarlets Saturday afternoon, the Southwest Christian soccer team stepped it up a notch. The Eagles’ Nicholas Pfeifle assisted Tyler Van Schepen with 19 minutes left in the match and then notched a pair of goals, the second of which tied the game at 3-all with seven and a half minutes remaining in regulation.

The Pipestone Area Arrow volleyball team opened the 2008 campaign in grand style Tuesday evening, knocking off the Russell-Tyler-Ruthton Knights in four games, 25-20, 25-21, 26-28, 25-5.
