Author and Lecturer James Medicine Tree will discuss, "Current World Situations in Light of Indigenous Prophecies -The Way of the Sacred Pipe, uncommon assistance for an uncommon time,” Friday, July 24, from 10 a.m. to noon at The Keepers, located at 400 N. Hiawatha Ave.

During the presentation, Jim will discuss prophecies carved in stone centuries ago that have accurately predicted many of the advances in modern technology. He will also explain what the carvings tell us to expect in the next decade and how to best prepare for it.

Jim will also share the role of the Sacred Pipe in today’s society and results of Pipe ceremonies held in the Middle East and in Australia concerning the drought there. Jim will be signing copies of his book, “The Way of the Sacred Pipe,” after the presentation, a book about the power of the Native American Sacred Pipe in today’s World. The book presents the history, traditions and proper use and care of the Personal Native American Sacred Pipe.

Since the spring of 1999, Jim has been the caretaker of the Pipe presented to the United Nations in 1978 by his mentor, Adam Fortunate Eagle, a Chippewa Elder. Jim uses this Pipe for ceremonies worldwide at the request of the “Native American Leadership Alliance.”

Jim Tree is one of the Spiritual Advisors for The Keepers. He has also served on the board of advisors for the Seton (Black Wolf) Institute in Santa Fe, N.M., and has conducted ceremonies for the Northern Arizona Regional Behavioral Health Authority’s symposium for Tribal Educators two years in a row. He has also lectured on “reinstating rights of passage ceremonies to combat youth suicide on reservations” during the symposium in 2007.

Jim has served on board of advisors for Montana Youth Home and provides spiritual council to Native inmates of several State Prison Systems.

Jim is also the Project coordinator for Montana Integrative Therapies, a project that merges alternative therapies with allopathic clinics treating cancer in Missoula. Jim is a CranioSacral Therapist trained by the Upledger Institute and Dr. T. Feeney, DO, an internationally known instructor of Cranial Osteopathy. Jim is a member of the International Association of Health Practitioners and has offices in Missoula, Hamilton and Darby, Mont.
