No injuries resulted from an accidental house fire that broke out in Woodstock on Sunday, Oct. 25.
Daniel Timmer, owner of the 651 First St. home, reported at 5:15 p.m. that his house was on fire. The Woodstock Fire Department was able to contain the fire, but once doused, the fire and smoke damage rendered the house inhabitable, according to the Pipestone County Sheriff’s Office, which also responded to the scene.
The fire, ruled accidental, ignited from blown fuses, according to Pipestone County Sheriff Dan Delaney.
“There was some type of electrical overload,” Delaney said. “There was some fire and smoke damage; more smoke than fire.”
The fire started at the furnace in the garage then spread to the attic, according to the Sheriff’s report. Timmer told the Sheriff’s Office that he had problems blowing fuses that morning and was in the home when he heard a pop then saw smoke in the kitchen.
Timmer had just recently purchased the home, Delaney said.
Timmer, who Delaney said was staying with relatives, could not be reached for comment.
The Woodstock First Responders were also called to the scene, as was the Edgerton Ambulance. Since the Woodstock Fire Department can’t recharge onsite the air tanks firefighters wear when entering a burning building, the Edgerton Fire Department and Holland Fire Department also responded to the scene to provide back-up air tanks, Delaney said.
