Arrow grapplers knock off Panthers, 40-24, to open new campaign
The Pipestone Area wrestling team recorded five falls and a major decision to beat host Tracy-Milroy-Balaton/Westbrook-Walnut Grove, 40-24, Thursday night in the Arrows' opening dual meet of the season.
Elijah Everson got the Arrows started with a pinfall at 103 pounds. Walker Kor followed with a fall at 112 pounds, and John Bush earned four points for the team with a major decision at 125 pounds.
Brandan Alfson and Dylan Kor both recorded falls at 160 and 171, respectively, while Cody Schulze finished off the meet with a pinfall victory in the heavyweight division.
Tyler Evans (189) and Jon Gorter (215) each won their matches by decision.
The Arrow junior varsity also earned a team victory, beating T-M-B/W-WG, 37-18.
Jordan Whipple, Jake Haubrich, Josh Stangeland, Jared Hillard and Brandon Baker each won by fall, while Matt Haraldson picked up a 10-2 major decision and Broderick Everson won a tight 8-6 match.
