Bertha Corbin




 

 

Bertha Corbin, 93, Edgerton, formerly of Leota, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015 after a weeklong battle with heart problems and pneumonia.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, Jan. 13 from 5-8 p.m. at the Ebenezer Christian Reformed Church in Leota.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 14 at 10:30 a.m. at Ebenezer Christian Reformed Church.

Interment will be in the Leota Community Cemetery.

Bertha (Koelewyn) Corbin was born Aug. 25, 1921 at home in Lismore Township, to Frank and Gertie (Buyert) Koelewyn.

She was raised on the farm and attended school in Lismore Township.

Bertha married Gilbert Corbin in the Leota Christian Reformed Church on May 3, 1942. Following their marriage the couple lived and farmed near Leota. After retirement they moved to Leota and later moved to Edgebrook Apartments in Edgerton.

She was a lifetime member of Ebenezer Christian Reformed Church in Leota where she participated in Ladies Aid and other church activities.

She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Gilbert Corbin, Edgerton; three children, Bonnie (Garvin) Vis, Leota; Rod (Ruth) Corbin, Edgerton and Glenna (Jeff) Backer, Pipestone; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Florence Buys, Edgerton; Gertrude (Harvey) Sas, Leota and Dena (Clares) Christians, Edgerton and a sister-in-law, Leona Koelewyn, Edgerton.

She was preceded in death by her two sons, Garvin Corbin (1943-1959), and Curtis Corbin (1952-2008); a granddaughter, Katy Corbin; her parents; two brothers, Frank and Art Koelewyn and a sister, Grace Van Hulzen.
