Diane Erickson Spear, 87, Brandon, S.D., died Monday, March 14, 2022 after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 18 at St. John American Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, S.D. with Pastor Paul Matchan officiating.
Honorary pallbearers were all of Diane’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Kevin Olinger, Jeremy Erickson, Juliann Ditlevso, Scott Olinger, Justin Erickson and Chase Mellema.
Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery in Sioux Falls.
Diane was born on Dec. 26, 1934 in Omaha, Neb. to Yale and Marjorie Clark. She was raised in Omaha and attended Central High School and the University of Nebraska.
On April 16, 1955 she married Robert E. Erickson. Robert and Diane were married 28 years and had six children.
Diane held many positions in her life. She sold and refinished furniture for many years in the area. But the position she cherished most was being a teachers’ aide at Jasper Grade School.
In 1985 she married Darwin Spear of Sioux Falls. They owned and operated The Curiosity Shoppe Antiques and Collectibles. During those years they met many long-lasting friends, including their special friend, Roger Nordstrom.
She is survived by her daughters, Donna Renee (Stan) Schoeneman, Sandra Kay (Rodney) Olinger, Mary Elizabeth Erickson, Tina Diane Erickson (Kevin Clouse); her sons, Robert Clark (Jeanine) Erickson, James Richard (LeAnn) Erickson and two stepdaughters, Kim and Val; 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Darwin; grandson, Joshua Wiseman; her mother, Marjorie Lueders; father, Yale Clark; stepfather, Carl Lueders; brothers, Bob and Jim Clark and a sister, Cynthia Cesena.
