Eagle girls advance to Section 3A title tilt

Despite being outrebounded, 34-26, the top-seeded Southwest Christian Eagles (24-5) comfortably dispatched No. 4 Edgerton 66-50 in the finals of the sub-Section 3A South girls’ basketball tournament Friday night at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall – advancing to the Section 3A championship game versus Minneota (No. 2 North) at 8 p.m. Friday back at SMSU.

SWC posts Makenna Moss and Jocelyn Barron wreaked havoc on the Dutchmen interior, tallying 14 points, two assists and a block and 13 points, four rebounds and a block, respectively.

Madyson Fey and Ana Veldkamp had strong all-around games for the Eagles. The former finished with nine points to go with four rebounds and four assists, while the latter posted seven points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Makenzie Pap also proved solid in all facets of the game, scoring six points, pulling down seven rebounds and dishing out six assists. Kinsie Nelson had six points to go with two boards and four assists, while Lindsie Fick (two assists) and Kierra Binford (two rebounds, two assists) had five and four points, respectively. Myah Vander Maten scored two points in limited action.
