HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL: Knights drop opener

• Edgerton falls to Windom on road

TRACY — Gretchen Lanoue powered Tracy-Milroy-Balaton to a 59-52 come-from-behind victory over Russell-Tyler-Ruthton in the girls basketball opener for both schools Friday, Nov. 21.

Lanoue scored 26 points, including one 3-pointer and 11-of-19 from the free-throw line.

The teams were deadlocked 24-all at intermission, and the Knights were ahead 50-44 with 3:38 remaining in the second half before the Panthers rallied to win.

Paisley Thooft dropped in 14 points for RTR, including a spotless 6-of-6 on free throws. Ava Karbo added 12 points and Makayla Hesse nine, including the Knights’ lone 3-point make.

RTR’s home opener with Murray County Central Tuesday was rescheduled to Feb. 9, 2026, due to weather.

WINDOM — Haidyn Sammons totaled 22 points to lead all scorers as Windom Area downed Edgerton Public in the season-opening game for both schools on Thursday, Nov. 20, at The Eagles Nest.

Sammons connected on eight field goals, and was 5-of-5 on free throws. Alivia Letcher scored 21, which included tossing in six 3-pointers.

Reese Vande Griend was Edgerton’s leading scorer with 18, including one trifecta. Joey Flesichman contributed nine points.

Windom was ahead 41-18 at the break, and maintained a comfortable lead in the second half.

Edgerton has a busy week ahead with three games on the docket through this Saturday.
