Howard Farmer


Howard Farmer, 75, Pipestone, died Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at his  home.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday, October 22, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. at the Hartquist Funeral Home, Pipestone Chapel.

Howard Jerome Farmer was born on March 13, 1942 to William and Lois (Lamon) Farmer on the family farm near Pipestone where he was raised. He attended country school District #3 and then school in Egan, S.D. He later attended school at Southern School of Agriculture in Waseca, graduating in 1960. Following his education, he resided in Pipestone and drove truck for over 40 years. Howard served in the Army National Guard in Pipestone and the Air National Guard in Sioux Falls, S.D.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Pipestone.

He had a great love of old tractors, especially those manufactured in the 1930’s-1950’s.

He is survived by his five siblings, Lois (Daryl) Bruns, Fulda, George (Arna) Farmer, Faribault, Cyrus (Diane) Farmer, Kandern, Germany, Calvin (Linda) Farmer, Pipestone and Lila Farmer, Dallas, Texas and one sister-in-law, Carol Farmer, Pipestone.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Roberta Karls and one brother, William.
