Jessie Huisken




Jessie Huisken, 98, Edgerton, died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010 at Edgebrook Care Center, Edgerton.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 28 at First Christian Reformed Church, Edgerton, with Rev. Timothy Brown officiating.
Pallbearers were Terry De Boer, Michael Tinklenberg, Rick Huisken, Dylan Huisken, Jamie Huisken, Tim Huisken, Bob De Boer and Phil Huisken.
Interment was in Hillside Cemetery, Edgerton.

Jessie (Schelhaas) Huisken was born to Albertus and Hattie (Kroeze) Schelhaas on Dec. 25, 1911 in Hornick, Iowa. She was born into a large family of seven brothers and four sisters and was the last living sibling.
She married William “Bill” Huisken on July 10, 1932. They moved into their home in Edgerton and lived there for 72 years.
She was a life-long member of First Christian Reformed Church, she belonged to the Martha Circle, High School Circles and various Bible Studies.
After the death of her husband in 1974, she went to work at Edgerton Christian Elementary School as a cook. In 2005 she moved into Edgebrook Assisted Living and in 2007 to Edgebrook Care Center.

She is survived by her children, Marva DeBoer, Kalamazoo, Mich.; Ihla Hooyer, Estes Park, Colo.; Iva (Henry) DeBoer, Edgerton; Fred (Betty) Huisken, Edgerton; Jim (Jan) Huisken, Edgerton; Bill Huisken, Edgerton; Kathy (Mike) Tinklenberg, Edgerton; 28 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Trudy Huisken, Rock Valley, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Min Huisken, Edgerton and Bunny Huisken, Foley, Ala.; and Holly Huisken, Spearfish, S.D.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill”; her daughter, Leanne Huisken; her son, Ben Huisken; one granddaughter and one great-grandson.
