Joshua Andersen Stangeland

Joshua Andersen Stangeland, 27, Pipestone, died Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022 at the Pipestone County Hospice House.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, Nov. 15 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Christ the King Free Lutheran Church in Pipestone.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment will be at a later date.

Joshua Andersen Stangeland was born on July 14, 1995 in Luverne to Ted and Roberta (Cadotte) Stangeland. He was baptized at Christ the King and later confirmed there as well. He attended school in Pipestone and graduated from Pipestone High School in 2014. After his graduation from high school he then furthered his education at South Dakota State University in Brookings, S.D. and completed his degree in animal science and ag business.

He traveled the Midwest working at several different ranches including Talsma Cattle, Harker Simmentals and Steck Cattle. He later returned to Pipestone and worked for Cargill, along with running Josh Stangeland Cattle Company.

On Dec. 9, 2021 he married Kasey Vander Plaats.

He was a member of Christ the King Free Lutheran Church in Pipestone and was involved in the youth group as well.

He is survived by his wife, Kasey, Chancellor, S.D.; parents, Ted and Jen Stangeland, Jasper and Roberta and Colin King, Harlan, Iowa; grandparents Craig and JoAnn Stangeland, Jasper; siblings, Sylas Stangeland, Harlan; Camden and Raina Jayne King, Harlan and Allison Odens, Pipestone and his nieces, Harriet Odens and Kobie Vander Plaats.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Karen Cadotte and paternal great-grandparents, Silas and Dorothy Stangeland.
