Paul Brockberg


Paul Brockberg, 86, Pipestone, died Sunday, July 22, 2018 at Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 28 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Trosky with Rev. Robert Moeller, Jr. officiating.

Casket bearers were Mike Brockberg, Nick Bleeker, Ray Evans, Dennis Graphenteen, Greg Brockberg and Bill Brockberg.

Interment was in Trosky Cemetery, Trosky.

Paul Louis Brockberg was born to Paul H. and Alvina (Meyer) Brockberg on July 24, 1931 in Elmer Township, Pipestone County. He attended District #69 Country School until eighth grade and graduated from Pipestone High School in 1950.

In 1954 he married Jean Riffel. They lived on the farm near Trosky. He farmed full-time until 1992. Health issues forced him to semi-retire to his small hobby farm where he enjoyed taking care of his livestock, gardening and attending farm auctions. At this time he also worked part-time as a delivery driver for Minnesota West Community College Meats Department.

Due to declining health he was admitted to the Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone in January 2007, where he lived for nearly 12 years.

He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Trosky his entire life. He was baptized, confirmed and married at St. John’s. He also served as a Sunday school teacher, church officer and Elder for many years.

He is survived by his four children, Jeff (Deb) Brockberg, Pipestone, Gayle Herter, Shorewood, Ill., Bryan (Janet) Brockberg, Pipestone and Brenda (Bruce) Bleeker, Shakopee; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his brother, Harold (Irma), Cedarburg, Wis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Alvin, Walter, LeRoy and Raymond Brockberg and two sisters, Lore Graphenteen and LaVonne Kollman.
