Postive review, raise for PCMC CEO

The Pipestone County Medical Center (PCMC) Governing Board during its Oct. 22 meeting gave Brad Burris, PCMC CEO, a positive review and a 3.68 percent raise, bringing his new salary to $231,762.

The board went into closed session for about 20 minutes at the end of the meeting to conduct its annual evaluation of Burris and made its decision when it reconvened, according to Chris Hollingsworth, PCMC board and Pipestone County board chair.

Hollingsworth said Burris did well in all areas of his review and specifically noted Burris’ recruitment efforts, which he credited with bringing several new providers to PCMC in the past year, and his activities in the community, including open houses and sponsorship of the Indigenous Peoples Day concert last fall.

PCMC’s board uses a process recommended by Avera to set Burris’ salary. Curt Hohman, senior vice president of managed hospitals for Avera, said by email that the recommendation is based on a compensation analysis performed by the Minnesota Hospital Association and Avera’s compensation consultants, Integrated Healthcare Strategies. Hollingsworth said it takes into account the salaries of other hospital CEOs in the area.
