Robert P. Rons


Robert P. Rons, 85, Tyler died Monday, Dec. 26, 2022 at Avera Tyler Hospital in Tyler.

Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 30 at First English Lutheran Church in Tyler with Rev. Deborah Dawson officiating.

Urn bearer was Wayne Rons.

Robert P. Rons was born on Oct. 13, 1937 to Peter and Josie (Koele) Rons in Sioux County, Iowa. He was raised in Iowa and attended several country schools. He started high school in Sheldon before moving with his family to Tyler in 1952. He became a member of the Ruthton United Methodist Church and later joined the First English Lutheran Church and remained active in the church throughout his life. He graduated from Tyler High School in 1955 and continued working on the farm after graduation.

In 1958 he married Una Johnson in Ruthton.

After retiring from farming, a diagnosis of Meniere’s disease slowed him down in his later years.

He enjoyed woodworking and built many things, including the urn that holds his ashes.

He is survived by his wife, Una, Tyler; children, Wayne (Charleen) Rons, Lakeville, David Rons, Central City, Neb., Brenda (James) Skare, Clearwater and Betty (Timothy) Henline, Buffalo; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Josie and his sister, Joann Oltmans.
