Tammi VanNoort, 45, Holland, died Thursday evening, Dec. 1, 2016 at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 16 at 2 p.m. at Peace United Methodist Church in Pipestone with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Tammi Rose VanNoort was born to Thomas and Nina (Lofton) Heit on March 18, 1971 in Brighton, Colo. She was raised in the Denver, Colo. area and moved to Iowa in 1992 at the age of 21. She became employed at Coilcraft, Inc., in Hawarden, Iowa and was in charge of quality control.

She married Teri VanNoort. Following their marriage they lived in several towns in northwest Iowa. While living in that area, she did bartending and waitressing and had also been employed at Wells Blue Bunny in LeMars, Iowa. She later met Kenny Poppema in Inwood, Iowa and they moved to Texas in 2003. They recently moved to Holland and she was currently employed at Bomgaars.

Over the past 15 years, she had been faced with numerous health issues.

She was baptized in the Catholic faith. At the age of 42, she joined the Cyprus Trails United Methodist Church in Spring, Texas where she became very active in Bible studies as well as retreats.

She is survived by her husband, Kenny Poppema, Holland; two sons, Dane and Austin, both of Inwood; her former husband, Teri VanNoort, Inwood; her mother, Nina Burbank; her father, Tom Heit, Westminster, Colo.; one brother, Tim (Katie) Heit, Denver, and one half-sister, Angela Burbank, Denver.
