Woodstock News for the Week of March 28, 2022

The Woodstock annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration was very well attended again this month. Streets were packed with spectators to enjoy the units as they passed by. Other activities went on as Scheduled. It was another successful occasion.

Now we await the Easter egg hunt and summer plans the Community Club are planning!

The winter snowbirds are slowly making their way back, hopefully Mother Nature will not have too many weather surprises for them. A lady I talked to this morning just arrived from Texas and she said it was the coldest winter there for a long time.

My great-grandson, Gunnar Schultz, a senior at the Blue Earth school, is a member of the Knowledge Bowl team and in the Math Bowl competition. The teams both competed this past month. The Knowledge Bowl team did not place, but the Math team earned second place in the State. Congratulations to Gunnar and his team.

I attended the Kiwanis pancake breakfast Sunday morning at St. Leo’s in Pipestone. It was so good to be out and see so many friends again. Are we returning to a “normal” life, being able to enjoy friends without masks or health risks? Guess we must still be careful.

Pipestone is mourning the passing of Verne Long, 96, a longtime resident of Pipestone. Verne served the community well, was respected as a gentleman, served our corner of the state in the legislature and was always ready to help where needed. My sympathy to the survivors and friends.

March came in like a lamb, will it go out the same way? No complaints on the weather from me this winter. On the colder Sundays, a good friend drove me to church, being so kind –  made sure the car was warm and even made provisions to get my Sunday paper. Service with a big smile. Thanks a bunch Gloria!
