Jasper Quartziter Days
Jasper Quartziter Days will be held in Jasper on July 19, 20 and 21.
On Friday, July 19 there will be a car cruise-in from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and a pork sandwich meal at Memorial Hall. There will also be karaoke in front of the Stonewall Bar & Grill at 8 p.m. At 7 p.m. a free showing of Disney’s Encanto sponsored by People’s Bank will take place in the park, and popcorn will be served to attendees.
Saturday, July 20 is jam packed with activities. Saturday’s festivities will begin with cinnamon rolls, coffee and juice being served at a What Not Sale with quilts at Jasper ELC from 9-11 a.m. From 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. an all school memorabilia room will be featured on the corner of Wall Street and Sherman Avenue, and the museum will be open during the same time frame for visitors to check out. A Bloody Mary Bar sponsored by the Stonewall Bar & Grill will run from 9 a.m.- 12 p.m., and at 10 a.m., the classic turtle races and kids bale toss will take place at the city park, as well as tours of the school.
From 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. there will be fire truck rides, and from 11:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. there will be activities in the park to include inflatables and concessions that will feature Pizza Ranch pizza and pop. A wristband for the inflatables is available for $5.
From 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., the historical society will be serving a meal of Walking Tacos with a drink and dessert at Memorial Hall. From 2-4 p.m., area fire departments will participate in water wars sponsored by the Jasper Fire Department, and Bauman Hall will host an open house. From 1-3 p.m., Bingo will take place in the park shelter, with each card costing 25 cents, and a 100% payout. People’s Bank will sponsor a meal of pork loin sandwiches and ice cream sundae’s at People’s Bank from 4-6 p.m., and at 7 p.m. the parade will take place. Following the parade, an adult bale toss competition will take place on Wall Street, and from 9 p.m. – 1 a.m. a free street dance featuring the band 10 Miles from Nowhere will be held. Lunch Shack & Rico’s Tacos will be present during the dance.
Wrapping up the festivities on Sunday, at 9 a.m. a social hour with coffee, juice and bars will be held at the city park, prior to a community church service that will start at 11 a.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair and to be prepared to move to Memorial Hall should inclement weather occur. A freewill offering to the servicemen memorial at the cemetery is welcomed. Immediately following the service, there will be a potluck, with BBQ and buns provided.
