Jasper trick-or-treat
The Jasper Quartziter Club is hosting a drive through trick-or-treat event this year rather than its usual Halloween trunk-or-treat and carnival due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The event will take place Friday, Oct. 30 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the back side of the Jasper Emergency Services Building at 221 First Street East. Participants are asked to drive up from the east and Jasper Ambulance members wearing face masks and gloves will hand out bags of candy and other goodies. Each vehicle will also receive a pumpkin donated by Terry and Kris Rodman.
A few lucky kids will receive bags that contain a gold star that will win them a Halloween decoration. The prizes include scarecrows and a stuffed trick-or-treater with a pumpkin head. Children should look in their bags for a gold star and if they find one, come back to the Emergency Services Building to claim their prize.
Community members can also participate in a coloring contest with prizes awarded for the winners in each of five age brackets. The coloring sheets are located in the Peoples Bank entryway. Completed entries must be dropped off at the bank by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 27. Winners in the children’s age brackets will receive cash prizes and adult winners will win scarecrow decorations.
