The Pipestone County Fair gets underway this week with lots of entertainment for kids and adults from Aug. 4 to 7 at the Pipestone County Fairgrounds.
The fair kicks off on Wednesday with a variety of activities, including a magic show, musical group The Barn Flies, kids pedal pull, Mr. Twister balloon twisting, and the grandstand show – Celebrity Dairyland donkey races.
Thursday under the tent you can listen to Sherwin Linton & The Cotton Kings featuring Pamela Linton. Performing this year with the band is Beckett Olson Moffitt, 11, Sioux Falls. Beckett is the son of William Moffitt, and grandson of Ron and Cathy Moffitt of Pipestone. Also on Thursday will be an antique and modern tractor pull in the grandstand, Pipestone County Cattlemen’s Feed, cruise-in car show, hypnosis show, face painting, and the POW/MIA Freedom Flight hot air balloon.
Friday fair-goers can attend the Pipestone County Pork Producers Feed, listen to the Larry Olsen Polka band, attend the NTPA truck and tractor pull in the grandstand, and take a POW/MIA Freedom Flight.
Saturday there will be a rib cook off contest, the FROGS men quartet, Ranch rodeo, public rib feed and the Snake Oil Band in the grandstand.
4-H and FFA livestock shows will be held every day in the arena. With the Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Auction on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Fair rides, games and food will be available along the Midway. Advance tickets for rides are 8 rides for $20 and are available at Hank’s Foods, Coborn’s, Pipestone Chamber Office, Snyder Drug and The Clothier by Dawn.
