Pipestone County Fair
The Pipestone County Fair kicks off Wednesday, Aug. 3 and runs through Saturday, Aug. 6 at the Pipestone County Fairgrounds.
Midwest Rides of the Midway will be at the fair, with one advanced ticket equaling one ride, and early ticket purchases will result in savings with six rides available for purchase at $20. Advanced tickets are available at Hank’s Foods, Coborn’s and the Pipestone Chamber Office.
Grandstand events will be Dairyland Celebrity Donkey Races on Wednesday, Aug. 3 at 7 p.m., an Antique and Modern Tractor Pull on Thursday, Aug. 4 at 5 p.m., an NTPA Truck and Tractor Pull on Friday, Aug. 5 at 7 p.m. and a Country Music Fest featuring Nashville artists Ashley Barron and Dylan Gerard on Saturday, Aug. 6 from 7 to 10 p.m.
Dar’s Pizza will be served from 4 to 8 p.m. at the 4-H Food Stand on Wednesday, there will be a Pipestone County Cattlemen’s Feed from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, a Pipestone County Pork Producers Feed will be held on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. and a Rib Cook Off Contest will be held on Saturday, Aug. 6 with a public rib feed under the tent from 5 to 7 p.m.
Bingo will be held Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from noon to 2 p.m. under the tent.
Other events for the fair include the following:
•Wednesday, Aug. 3: Sherwin Linton & The Cotton Kings, 3 to 7 p.m., with a special tribute to Johnny Cash at 6 p.m. under the tent; Mr. Twister balloon twisting from 3 to 6 p.m. and a kiddie pedal pull at 7 p.m. in the livestock show arena. The pedal pull is for girls and boys ages 4 to 11 with sign up from 6 to 7 p.m.
•Thursday, Aug. 4: Dick Fredrickson, Singing Cowboy, 4 to 6 p.m. under the tent; F.R.O.G.S. Men’s Quartet, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. under the tent; horse pole bending run, 7 p.m. in the horse arena; and Jesse Moffitt Hypnosis Show, 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the show arena. A car cruise-in will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on 10th Ave. S.E. next to the fairgrounds.
•Friday, Aug. 5: Jesse Moffitt Magic Show, 3 to 4 p.m., and the Larry Olsen Polka Band from 5 to 7 p.m. Both events are held under the tent.
•Saturday, Aug. 6: A Ranch Rodeo will be held at 6 p.m. in the horse arena.
