The Pipestone County Historical Society will be hosting a speaker series on the Pipestone Quarries. All presentations will be held at the historic St. Paul Episcopal Church parish hall, 221 Fourth St. SE in Pipestone. Presentations will begin at 10 a.m.
Admission will be $5 per person with proceeds to benefit both the Pipestone County Historical Society and Historic Pipestone Inc. Dates and topics to be presented include:
•May 1: Trava Olivier, with the Historical Society, will share the history of the quarry site from the Treaty of 1858 to its creation as a National Monument.
•May15: A ranger from the National Parks Service will discuss the site as a National Monument beginning with its creation and moving forward to today.
Masks and social distancing will be required for each of these presentations.
