February in Review

  • City crews clearing snow at the intersection of Main Street and Hiawatha Avenue on Monday morning, Feb. 25. They had cleared snow nearly every day the previous week either due to new snow or snow the wind had drifted back.

  • Ashley Gustafson became the new coordinator for the five-year, $945,000 Minnesota Department of Human Services Alcohol Abuse Division grant program intended to reduce underage alcohol use in Pipestone.

  • As of this month Shopko had not yet announced that it was closing all its stores, only select stores and pharmacies. Pipestone’s store was supposed to remain open, even though the pharmacy was closing. The latter happened this month.

  • Tanya Schroyer, Pipestone Area Schools middle school counselor, was nominated for the Education Minnesota Human Rights Award for her work in the school district’s Wellness Room.
