BASKETBALL: SW Minnesota Shootout set for July 16-17

LUVERNE — The Southwest Minnesota Shootout two-day basketball extravaganza will take place Wednesday and Thursday, July 16-17.

All games will be played at Luverne High School.

The Pipestone Area Schools boys will play three games on Wednesday evening, leading off with a contest versus George-Little Rock (Iowa) at 5 p.m.

The Arrows also play DeSmet (S.D.) and Adrian-Ellsworth at 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., respectively.

The morning session features both Edgerton boys and girls teams.

The Flying Dutchmen boys will begin the day with an 8 a.m. match-up versus Madison (S.D.). Southwest Minnesota Christian also plays, opening with Hill City.

The Edgerton girls will play West Lyon (Iowa) at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, followed by Westbrook-Walnut Grove at 10:15 a.m. and Luverne 11:45 a.m.

Russell-Tyler-Ruthton’s boys will play Unity Christian at 12:30 p.m., with additional games to follow.

The PAS girls are set to play three games on Thursday, July 17.

The Arrows open with West Lyon (Iowa) at 8:45 a.m. PAS then faces MACCRAY of Clara City at 10:15 a.m. and finally Rock Valley (Iowa) at 11:45 a.m.

Edgerton’s girls will have three more games Thursday versus Western Christian at 5 p.m., then Sheldon (Iowa) 6:30 p.m. and Chester (S.D.) 8 p.m.

This event is currently in its 17th year, with this year’s field featuring schools from three states.

“We typically get quite a few teams from two-plus hours away,” Schilling noted.

Concessions will be available. Admission is $5 for adults, with students free of charge.
