Blake E. Olsen


Blake E. Olsen, 29, of Pipestone, died Sunday, May 21, 2023 as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident near Hendricks, Minn.

Visitation was held Thursday, May 25, from 4-8 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in Pipestone.

Funeral services were held Friday, May 26, at 10:30 a.m. at First Lutheran Church with Rev. Jennings Wallace officiating.

Casket bearers were William “Bill” Olsen, Derik Evans, Taylor Nordmeyer, Jaydon Gorter, Brock Jacobs, Reid Schiebout and Brady Stamer.

Burial was at Ihlen Cemetery in Ihlen, Minn.

Blake Edwin Olsen was born to Mark and Nancy (Yseth) Olsen on August 31, 1993 in Pipestone, Minn. and was baptized and confirmed at the First Lutheran Church. While growing up, he was all boy. He kept busy in sports, notably basketball, baseball, golf and track. In his spare time, he could be found driving four-wheelers, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed camping, boating and snowboarding. Following his graduation from Pipestone High School in 2012, Blake enrolled at Alexandria Technical College in Alexandria, Minn. He then returned home and went to work as an equipment operator for the family business, Olsen Trenching. Blake enjoyed hanging out with friends, riding motorcycles, traveling and attending concerts and festivals. He was patient, easy going, loyal and dedicated. He had a positive attitude and strong work ethic. He was a good friend and made whoever he was around better. Family was always a priority of Blake’s as he always showed up.

On Sunday, May 21, 2023, Blake was out on the road, doing something he loved to do, riding motorcycles. He went to be with the Lord that evening while at Hendricks Community Hospital Association in Hendricks, Minn. from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident at the age of 29 years.

Blake is lovingly remembered by his parents, Nancy Olsen (significant other, Shannon Clipper) of Hendricks, Minn. and Mark Olsen of Jasper, Minn.; brother, Brock (Rachel) Jacobs and their children, Alli, Jenni, and Sammi of Adrian, Minn.; sister, Brenna (Derik) Evans and their son, Burke of Slayton, Minn.; brother, William “Bill” Olsen of Pipestone; maternal grandparents, William and Mary Ann Yseth of Pipestone; paternal grandmother, JoAnn (Lyle) Miller of Ihlen, Minn. and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Eddie Olsen; and second-cousin, Jordyn Olsen.
