COLLEGE SPOTLIGHT: Northwestern’s Rylie Franken

Red Raiders are currently nationally ranked in NAIA

ORANGE CITY, Iowa — Rylie Franken is currently playing her senior season for the Northwestern College volleyball team.

Franken (neé Fey) has helped the Red Raiders to a 16-3 record, ranked seventh overall in the national NAIA Division I poll.

Northwestern is undefeated in the Great Plains Athletic Conference, and the squad is currently third in the nation in solo ace blocks per set (2.6).

This past Saturday, Northwestern swept Doane (Neb.) on Senior Day by scores of 25-18, 25-14, 25-20.

Franken (a 6-foot-1 opposite hitter) was one of six seniors celebrated, and she contributed one kill and one ace block assist.

The Red Raiders next match will be at Concordia (Neb.) on Friday, Oct. 10.

In her Northwestern career, Franken has contributed 29 kills, seven digs and 14 ace block assists — recording her first-ever varsity collegiate kill in a win over Briar Cliff during the 2024 campaign.

Franken was named to Northwestern’s Dean’s List for the 2025 spring semester, majoring in nursing.

Rylie is the daughter of Ross and Nicole Fey, with siblings Kade, Madyson, Kash, Brooks, Daya and Kayto.
