Crash claims life of Jasper man

MatthewHaraldson, 32, of Jasper, lost his life as a result of an accident that occurred southeast of Jasper in Rock County on Wednesday morning, Sept. 10.

According to the Rock County Sheriff’s Office, a 911 call was received at approximately 9:15 a.m. about a side-by-side crash at the intersection of 80th Avenue and 241st Street. Upon arrival, deputies observed Jasper emergency responders doing CPR on a male, later identified as Haraldson.
An investigation showed that Haraldson was traveling westbound on 241st Street in a Polaris Ranger side-by-side. According to the Rock County Sheriff’s Office, it appears that Haraldson lost control of the Ranger and it rolled and came to rest in the northwest ditch of the intersection.
Haraldson was transported to Pipestone County Medical Center where he was pronounced dead due to his injuries, according to the sheriff’s office. It was not clear if Haraldson was wearing a seatbelt, and alcohol was not a factor in the crash, according to the sheriff’s office.
The Rock County Sheriff’s Office, Jasper Fire and Rescue, and Pipestone County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident.
