Dale Iverson


Dale Iverson, 90, Pipestone, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2025 at the Pipestone County Medical Center in Pipestone.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 6 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lake Wilson with Rev. Bob Ossefoort officiating.

Urn bearers were Brian Iverson, Bruce Iverson and Tom Iverson.

Military honors were provided by the American Legion Post 285, Lake Benton.

Inurnment was at Ellsborough Lutheran Cemetery in Balaton.

Dale Palmer Iverson was born on April 5, 1935 to Tollef and Mildred (Palmer) Iverson in Nekoma, N.D. He was the youngest of nine children that grew up and spent their time on the farm together. In 1941, the family moved to Russell. He attended school in Tyler and graduated from Balaton High School in 1954.

Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was later honorably discharged in 1958.

He married Norma Mattson on June 7, 1959 and they took over the family farm and lived there until 2025. He officially retired from farming in 2004.

He was an active member of Ellsborough Lutheran Church in rural Balaton until it disbanded and then joined Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lake Wilson. He served on the church boards. He and Norma were a part of the Ellsborough 500 card club. He was active on the Ellsborough Township Board and was an active member of the Ruthton American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Norma; sister, Ardell Anderson, Des Moines, Iowa; three sons, Brian (Ardis) Iverson, Sioux Falls, S.D., Bruce (Becky) Iverson, Garvin and Timothy (Amy) Iverson, Lamberton; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings.
