Edward William Eikmeier


Edward William Eikmeier, 88, Fort Morgan, Colo., died Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at the Fort Morgan Hospital in Fort Morgan, Colo.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 2 at 2 p.m. at Hartquist Funeral Home, Pipestone Chapel with Pastor Velda Maine officiating.

Interment will be in Salem Cemetery, rural Pipestone.

Edward William Eikmeier was born on Feb. 4, 1936 in Pipestone to Melvin and Lois Eikmeier. Growing up, Edward attended Pipestone Area High School, graduating in 1955. Edward was baptized and confirmed at the Salem Church in Pipestone.

In 1954 he enlisted in the National Guard, serving until 1962 when he was honorably discharged.

On Sept. 2, 1956 he married Lois Brink in Holland. They had three daughters, Cynthia, Tamara and Jane. Lois and Edward later divorced in 1981.

Throughout his life, Edward lived in various locations, including Pipestone, Wheaton, Colo., Thornton, Colo. and finally settled down in Fort Morgan, with his life partner, Waunita Carpenter.

He was a life time member of the Salem Church.

He is survived by his life partner, Waunita Carpenter, Fort Morgan; children, Cynthia (Jerry) Steiner, Fulda, Tamara (Rick) Powell, Brandon, S.D. and Jane (Steve) Tiedeman, Woodstock; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Lois (Smith) Eikmeier sisters, Pearl Eikmeier, Doris (Stuart) Frerk, Lila (Charles) Delay and nieces, Suzanne Ricottilli and Lisa Frerk.
