MARSHALL — Patrons entering the Marshall Golf Club are greeted by a spectacular water feature off Hole No. 2.
And the par-5, 515-yard second hole is considered by most everyone as the signature hole at the facility.
What’s more, golfers are tested right away with par-5s on both Hole No. 1 and 2.
Marshall Golf Club features four tee boxes of varying length, ranging from 5,136 yards for the ladies’ red, 5,755 (yellow), 6,266 (white) and 6,601 (blue).

The club was established in 1942, drawing wide applause from its inception.
“A beautiful and well-designed golf course hardly explains it,” said Dakota Tour professional Jessie Talcott, who played on the college level at the University of South Dakota. “This course might be the best hidden secret in Minnesota.”
As per the club’s official website: marshallgolfclub.com, the venue was created to provide challenges for all levels.
The Redwood River is another magnificent water feature here, snaking its way through the middle of fairways on both the fifth and the closing 18th holes.

Patrons on carts must traverse several wooden bridges thanks to that river.
The par-72 layout features five par-4s on the back nine.
“I like the greens and the fairways are in good shape,” said Wade Newgard, who is a member at both the Marshall Golf Club and Pipestone Country Club. “The ball rolls true and fast.”
The Minnesota Golf Association (MGA) named the MGC club of the year in 2011, and the facility has served as host for several MGA tournaments including women’s amateurs, juniors and a senior event with a four-ball format.
The course has been tested by both recent rainfall and an invasive enemy known as the emerald ash borer beetle, which has forced the maintenance staff to axe trees by the hundreds.
