The Pipestone Area Schools boys tennis team conducted postseason awards at Pizza Ranch on Thursday, May 22.
Senior Makhi Winter was named the most valuable player, with doubles teammate Brady Dunn as one of two most improved performers.
Both Winter and Dunn advanced to the second round of the Section 3A individual tournament in Sioux Falls on Wednesday, May 21.
Matthew Swenson also earned most improved player honors.
French foreign exchange student Baptiste Philippon was named Mr. Hustle.

Courtside notes
PAS head tennis coach James Skyberg has announced summer lessons will begin on Wednesday, June 11, at the high school courts.
Summer lessons are for both boys and girls incoming seventh through 12th grade.
Additional training sessions are set for June 18, June 25, July 9 and July 16.
The cost for lessons is $50.

What’s more, this year, there will be a tennis-specific weight training program with Pipestone County Medical Center/PAS athletic trainer Jeff Haufschild serving as the proctor.
Sessions are on the following days: June 10, June 12, June 17, June 19, June 24, June 26, July 8, July 10, July 15 and July 17.
During the individual tournament, both Redwood Valley’s Zack Lundeen and Montevideo’s Gabriel Lindeman qualified in the singles draw. Lundeen is unbeaten this season (24-0).
The following doubles teams also qualified: Redwood Valley’s Elway Berg and Kanyon Hicks and Isaac Carlson and Harold Habben from Benson/Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg.
Redwood Valley also will represent Section 3A in the team tournament, with the Cardinals facing Rock Ridge (Virginia).

The Minnesota State High School League team tournament was scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday at Reed-Sweatt Tennis Center in Minneapolis.
The individual tournament will be Thursday and Friday, June 5-6.
The individual tournament bracket has not yet posted to the MSHSL website.
