JACKSON — Pipestone Area Schools head gymnastics coach Stacie Wallace said a realistic goal was a 130-point performance at any given meet.
The Arrows are well within striking distance.
PAS defeated host Jackson County Central 129.025-127.325 in the opening meet for both schools. What’s more, it was a Big South Conference victory to boot.
“My first goal for our varsity team was to break 130, so posting a 129.025 at our first meet makes that feel very attainable,” Wallace said. “I think we will see that domino fall, and we’ll have to set a new number to chase.”
Wallace said this conference win was a “great way to start the competitive season.”

Four-time state qualifier Kaysa Douty, a junior, picked up where she left off in 2024-25 by winning the all-around total with a stout score of 36.1 — while senior teammate Vivian Brockberg was next in line at 33.225.
“Kaysa opened the season with a strong performance,” Wallace noted. It was so strong she broke her own school record (35.875) with her all-around score. She came into the season looking strong, and ready to focus. She continues to refine and add to what she already does so well.”
Douty is constantly pushing herself in the school gymnastics center as a means of betterment, and the results certainly speak for themselves.
Her best score was in the floor exercise with a 9.325, and she added a mark of 9.25 in the balance beam.

Brockberg placed second in the vault with a mark of 8.9, and third on beam (8.3).

Wallace commented on other meet highlights.
“Vivian nailed her beam routine,” the coach commented. “That was an important piece of the puzzle for our team score, and it was really cool to see her have success there.”
Wallace also was pleased with Aubrey Brockberg’s performance on beam, and Brooke Einck’s promise in the vault (8.025).

PAS also won the junior varsity meet, 99.55-80, with more than 30 points coming from the vault and an additional 27 in the floor exercise.
Mackayla Lange was the all-around leader (25.65) with teammate Hatty Fey next (22.45). Lange was the winner in vault (7.95), and she had the Arrows’ best performance on beam.
Ireland Draper was tops in the uneven parallel bars (6.3) and floor exercise (7.15), and she also was varsity in the balance beam. Brooklynn Evans was varsity level in the vault, bars and floor.
PAS will be a busy place with both wrestling and gymnastics competitions at home Thursday.
The Arrow gymnasts will square off with Windom/Mountain Lake Area at 6 p.m., opening with JV performances.
