BROOKLYN CENTER — The Minnesota State High School League has posted playoff draws for softball.
And the Section 3AA seeding is quite surprising — considering Windom Area swept Pipestone Area Schools in a doubleheader on Tuesday.
The Arrows are a No. 2 seed, and have been given a first-round bye. Meanwhile, Windom is seeded fourth and plays Minneota/Canby in the opening round.

PAS (9-9) will face the winner of a game between No. 3 Luverne and sixth-seeded Redwood Valley on Tuesday, May 20, at the Paulsen Sports Complex.
The winner of the game between Minneota/Canby and Windom will take on Jackson County Central in the second round at JCC.
First-round games are set for 4 p.m., with second-round games to follow at 5:30 p.m.
Second-round winners will advance to a third-round contest at Marshall Sports Complex on Saturday, May 24, with first pitch set for 11:30 a.m.
The semifinals will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, and the championship is scheduled for 5 p.m. Thursday, May 29 — all at the Marshall Softball Complex. Should an if-necessary game be needed, it will start at 7 p.m. May 29.
Most of the tournament features a double-elimination format, except for opening-round elimination games.
As for the Section 3AA North seeds, Morris Area-Chokio-Alberta is slotted No. 1, with Dassel-Cokato second, New London-Spicer third, Minnewaska Area fourth, Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg fifth, Litchfield sixth and Montevideo seventh. Morris Area and Dassel-Cokato, last year’s section champion, were given first-round byes.
In Class A, third-seeded Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian (13-5) will face No. 6 Lakeview in the opening round, with the game set for 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, at Bicentennial Park in Slayton. Murray County Central is serving as the pod host.
Murray County Central, the second seed, will take on No. 7 Tracy-Milroy-Balaton.
It’s also quite surprising MCC is seeded better than Edgerton/SWC considering the Flying Dutchmen blanked the Rebels, 5-0, on Thursday evening.
Top-seeded Wabasso will face defending Section 3A champion, No. 8 Russell-Tyler-Ruthton (6-13), at Wabasso beginning at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 20. No. 4 Bird Island-Olivia-Lake Lillian (BOLD) takes on Adrian-Ellsworth in the other first-round game at the Wabasso pod. Second-round games at both sites will begin at 6 p.m. May 20.
Like in 3AA, winners will advance to play a game at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 24, at the Marshall Softball Complex. A semifinal is set for 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, and the championship at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 29. An if-necessary game would follow at 6 p.m. on the same day.
