EDGERTON — Turnabout was fair play as the Edgerton Public volleyball team knocked off Southwest Minnesota Christian in four sets Tuesday, Sept. 9.
Set scores in this Red Rock Conference match were 25-20, 25-23, 22-25, 25-19 in favor of Edgerton.
The Eagles had beaten the Flying Dutch on Tuesday, Sept. 2 in four.

Edgerton’s Reese Vande Griend played, perhaps, her finest scholastic match ever with 19 kills and teammate Kya Voge supplied 18. Vande Griend also had five solo ace blocks.

Cara Ruiter and Voge joined forces for 38 assists combined in Edgerton’s 6-2 aligned offense. Ailynn Johnson served up two aces.
For SWC, Tylee Kooiker posted a team-best 11 kills while Danika Nordby and Brooklyn Haan had eight apiece. Haan also contributed four solo ace blocks.

Leah Veldkamp and Elia Vis had 33 assists combined for the Eagles. Mia Vis was accurate on 18-of-19 serves. Jenna Feikema was 11-of-12 serving with a pair of aces.
Edgerton stands at 3-7 on the season while SWC is 4-9-1 after the conclusion of Saturday’s Wabasso Tournament.

Russell-Tyler-Ruthton prevails twice
EDGERTON — Russell-Tyler-Ruthton prevailed twice in Red Rock Conference action with straight-set wins over Mountain Lake Area-Comfrey on Tuesday, Sept. 9 and Adrian-Ellsworth Thursday, Sept. 11.
In the win over Adrian-Ellsworth, Laken Baartman paced the Knights with 17 digs and Sara Thooft added eight (plus two ace serves).
Dru Ellefson and Brezlyn Buchert posted 35 assists combined in RTR’s 6-2 offense.
Paisley Thooft pounded down a team-best 11 kills and Brynn Borresen chipped in with nine for Class A third-ranked RTR, who improved to 8-4 on the season.
Elkton-Lake Benton goes 2-3
ARLINGTON, S.D. — Elkton-Lake Benton wrapped up its busy week going 2-3 at the Arlington Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 13.
The Elks (4-6) earned wins over rival Deubrook Area and Faulkton Area; but, lost to Dakota Valley Conference foe Arlington plus Burke and Warner.
In the win over Deubrook Area, Sydney DeVries posted 11 kills and Charlie Thooft eight while Jocelyn Prosch chipped in with a pair of solo ace blocks.
Setter Malyha Slegers had 14 of the Elks’ 20 assists.
Both Quinn Slegers and Ashya Flores scooped up 14 digs.
Three different players served up two aces (Malyha Slegers, Payton Kuehl and Flores).
