WABASSO — Both the Pipestone Area and Southwest Minnesota Christian volleyball teams play in the Wabasso Invitational set for Saturday, Sept. 13 at the Activity Center.
Teams will play two sets, with a cap on 27 points. Points will be earned for each set won, and to the winner of each match. The maximum number awarded per match will be three points.
Pool A will feature host Wabasso, MACCRAY, Redwood Valley and Southwest Minnesota Christian. Pool B is composed of Bird Island-Olivia-Lake Lillian (BOLD), Central Minnesota Christian, Pipestone and Springfield.

The top two teams from each pool will then move on to the “Thumper” division in the afternoon, and the bottom two, “Trixie.”
In tournament play, matches will feature a best-of-3 format. The first two sets will be played to 25 points, and the third set to 15 (if needed).
Bag tags will be awarded to the champion and runner-up in the “Thumper” division.
A rolling schedule will be in effect, per tournament organizers.
Admission will be $8 for adults and $6 for students for the entire tournament.
Tickets may be purchased on GoFan.com, or at the gate with either a credit or debit card.
Wabasso activities director Joe Kemp reported this is a “cashless” event.
