Holiday spirit and joy in Pipestone Area Schools

By Dr. Klint W. Willert,
PAS superintendent of schools

December 2025 has truly ushered in winter. Despite starting out with cold winter temperatures and snowfall, the students and staff started to heat up our schools with the holiday spirit that comes from students, staff, families, and community members coming together in the true spirit of the season.
The holiday celebrations began early in the month when our elementary students took the stage for their Christmas concert on December 8. Their enthusiasm was unmistakable as they sang favorites like Snow Pants and Jingle Bells. For everyone in attendance, the concert was a heartfelt reminder of the wonder and excitement of the season when viewed through the eyes of a child.
Beyond music and celebration, our students also demonstrated the deeper meaning of the holidays through service and kindness. Members of the National Honor Society led a shoe drive that invited families and community members to donate gently used shoes for individuals in need. Through their partnership with Soles for Souls, these donations will ultimately support people in developing countries who lack access to basic necessities. This effort reflected compassion in action and a commitment to making a positive impact well beyond our local community.
That same spirit of service was evident during the district-sponsored blood drive. Despite challenging winter weather, community members showed up in force to support this life-giving cause. The success of the event was a testament to the generosity and resilience of our community—people willing to give of themselves for the benefit of others.
As December continued, our middle school and high school students prepared for their own concert performances. Bands and choirs filled our auditorium with festive music, the result of many hours of practice, collaboration, and dedication. These performances showcased more than musical talent; they highlighted perseverance, teamwork, and pride in a job well done.
Together, these experiences bring our Pipestone Area Schools Portrait of a Graduate to life. Throughout the month, students demonstrated what it means to be effective communicators, engaged community contributors, and performance-minded individuals. December offered countless opportunities for our students to shine while building the skills, character, and mindset that will serve them well into the future.
As we close out the month and prepare for the holidays, I want to extend my sincere wishes for a blessed and joyful Christmas to our students, families, and taxpayers. Thank you for your continued support and commitment to the success of Pipestone Area Schools. May the new year bring health, happiness, and continued opportunity for all.
Merry Christmas and
Happy New Year.
