IN THE NEWS: Minnesota West seeking athletic director

Closing date for applicants has been set for Nov. 3

WORTHINGTON — Minnesota West Community & Technical College is currently seeking a new athletic director.

Minnesota C&TC is currently running an advertisement for the open position on its Facebook page, and on the school’s website, mnwest.edu.

Currently, Bluejays’ head women’s basketball coach Rosalie Hayenga-Hostikka is listed as the women’s athletic director on the school’s website.

Former men’s athletic director Bob Purcell announced his retirement from the post last spring.

Purcell had been athletic director for the past eight years, and served as the college’s head wrestling coach from the late-1990s until 2017. He was a two-time Minnesota College Athletic Conference coach of the year.

During his tenure as athletic director, Purcell oversaw baseball, men’s basketball, football, men’s soccer, wrestling and trapshooting.

The advertisement on Minnesota West’s Facebook page reads, “We are seeking a dynamic leader to champion our athletic programs and drive student success.”

Job specifications are as follows: oversee all athletic operations; support student-athletes academic, health and housing needs; manage budgets, facilities, transportation and compliance; develop club sports; and represent athletics to the public with professionalism.

Prospective candidates must have the ability to travel, work evenings and weekends and manage multi-campus operations.

The reported salary range is from $33.61-$50.52 per hour. This is considered an unclassified, unlimited academic position. 

Applications for the position will close on Nov. 3, 2025. The desired start date for the job is Dec. 1, 2025.
