Jack M. Johnson




 

 

Funeral service for Jack M. Johnson, 80, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at the United Methodist Church in Fairmont. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Fairmont with military honors provided by the Lee C. Prentice American Legion Post 36 and Martin County V.F.W. Post 1222. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 29, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Jack passed away on Saturday morning, January 26, 2013, at the Jackson Lutheran Good Samaritan Society in Jackson, Minn.

Jack M. Johnson was born on October 5, 1932, in Pipestone, Minn. He was the son of Nels and Sadie (Peterson) Johnson. He attended Pipestone public schools. After graduating, Jack enlisted in the U.S. Navy in January 1952. He served at Hickam Air Force Base until receiving an honorable discharge in September 1953.

On February 20, 1954, Jack was united in marriage to EvaDelle Appel in Pipestone, Minn. This union was blessed with four children, Dan, Steven, Roxane and Bruce. Jack and EvaDelle resided in Pipestone, Fairmont and Maple Grove before returning to Fairmont. Jack worked as the Assistant Highway Engineer in Martin County for twenty six years until his retirement in 1990.

Jack was a member of United Methodist Church in Fairmont as well having lifetime memberships of the Lee C. Prentice American Legion Post 36 and Martin County V.F.W. Post 1222 in Fairmont. During his free time he enjoyed fishing and bowling, and traveling. Jack most loved spending time with his family and friends.

Left to cherish his memory include his wife, EvaDelle Johnson of Fairmont, Minn.; children, Dan Johnson and his wife, Carol, of Maple Grove, Minn., Roxane Kuderer and special friend, Tim McCabe, of Rochester, Minn., and Bruce Johnson and his wife, Daphne, of Parker, Colo.; grandchildren, Casey Kuderer, Kelly Wood, James Kuderer, Amy Kuderer, Matthew Johnson, Melissa Johnson, Joshua Johnson, and Samantha Johnson; great grandchildren, Haley, Jack and Abby Hagen; brother, Robert Johnson and his wife, Dee, of Pipestone, Minn.; sister, Pat Graphenteen and her husband, LeRoy, of Fairmont, Minn.; sisters-in-law, Charolette Johnson of Fergus Falls, Minn., and Carlla Skaggs and her husband, Wayne, of Willmar, Minn.; many other relatives and friends.

Along with his parents, Nels and Sadie Johnson, Jack was also preceded in death by his son, Steven J. Johnson; sister, Marlyn Pribyl; and brother, Junior Johnson.
