Kudos to local hospitality

TO THE EDITOR:
For several years, the Pipestone High School class of 1965 has held annual parties in August starting on a Tuesday afternoon and ending at lunch the following Thursday. The businesses in the City and County of Pipestone have made our get-together successful again!

But this year was special—our 60th reunion. The businesses that helped make it special have staff who were accommodating, flexible, creative, kind, and fun. The businesses are:

•The American Legion. Our beverage needs were easily met, and the staff rolled with our constant rearrangement of tables and chairs.
•Los Tulipanes. About 30 of us enjoyed wonderful food and friendly, helpful service.
•Dar’s Pizza. Several attendees savored the famous pizza in the lively atmosphere.
•The Pipestone County Museum. Many attendees enjoyed a special tour of the Masonic Hall, and several others toured the exhibits and browsed and shopped.
•The National Monument. We were given a special program on the Monument and the meaning of pipestone to Indigenous carvers. Several of us also walked the Circle Trail.
•The Pipestone Country Club. Our “big event” was dinner with charbroiled steaks from the Cattlemen’s Association and chicken Kiev and side dishes prepared by Country Club staff, who also set up the room to meet our needs, including last-minute change requests, and served beverages.
•Staci’s Bar & Grill. Our final get-together was lunch in Woodstock. Most of us drove, but four bicycled over on the Casey Jones Trail. Almost twice as many attended lunch as we had told Staci to expect, but no problem, even with another large group dining at the same time.
•GrandStay Hotel and Suites. The hotel staff provided their usual great facilities and service and helped us distribute materials to classmates staying there.

Without exception, classmates voiced satisfaction, enjoyment, and praise for the whole event, which was indeed special.

We plan a repeat next year, but maybe on a smaller scale–we’ll be another year older!
