LOCAL: Fordes win ‘Best in Show’

Classic early version of the Mustang sparkles in judges' eyes

Dahl Motors conducted a car show this past Saturday, Aug. 9, with five individuals earning awards across four divisions.

Rick and Judy Forde of Pipestone presented a 1964-1/2 Ford Mustang, which took best of show honors.

This Mustang is a distinct early version of the iconic pony car considered a separate model in the eyes of both collectors and historians. There were several engine options, and it was available as either a coupe and convertible.

Dahl Motors general manager/owner Scott Dahl reported there were more entries this year.

A 1968 Chevrolet Camaro shown by Ben Karels of Ben’s Auto Glass took second spot.

A 1946 Mercury model shown by Joette and Dale Remme of Ghent earned the top trophy in the classic division.

In the modern division, Marlin Van Meeteren of Luverne was deemed to have the best vehicle — a 2016 Dodge Challenger.

Stephen Lents won in the motorcycle division for his entry, a 1999 model year Kawasaki.
