LOCAL: Pipestone Parks and Rec offering programs

Selections include flag football, tennis, volleyball, gymnastics

The Pipestone Parks and Recreation Department is offering plenty of fall youth programs.

Here’s a little rundown on each program offered:

Flag football will take place Monday, Sept. 8, Sept. 15, Sept. 22, Sept. 29 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4 from the Paulsen Athletic Complex. The cost is $40. Pipestone Area Schools football coaches will serve as instructors.

Volleyball is for players from five years old through sixth grade at PAS Gymnasium. The program runs on Friday, Sept. 5, Sept. 12, Sept. 19, Sept. 26 and Oct. 3 from 3:30-4:15 p.m. The cost is $40.

Tennis will take place at the PAS Courts, with sessions on Wednesday, Sept. 3, Sept. 10, Sept. 17 and Sept. 24. The cost is $35. PAS coaches will serve as instructional staff.

For gymnastics in September, pee wees (5-7 years old) will train from 6-6:45 p.m. and flyers (8-12 years old) from 6:45-7:45 p.m. on the following dates: Sept. 8, Sept. 15, Sept. 16, Sept. 22 and Sept. 29.

Gymnastics sessions will be conducted at the high school, coached by PAS staff. There is a limit of 18 in each class.

The cost is $40 for pee wees and $45 for flyers.

Youth programs are offered with the cooperation of the United Way of Pipestone County.

The registration deadline is Tuesday, Sept. 2.
