EDGERTON — Rock River Rodeo Days has become a staple event in its third year, the second featuring a full card, at Diamond H Acres.
The rodeo will be spread over two days, Friday-Saturday, Aug. 15-16.
“We are so appreciative of the sponsors and the community,” said event organizer Kayla Hulstein, a Pipestone Area Schools graduate. “It’s a family-friendly event, and gives people another thing to do in the summer.”

The event begins at 6 p.m.; however, gates will open at 4 p.m. Diamond H Acres physical address is 1527 41st Street in rural Edgerton.
Timed events will feature barrel racing and breakaway roping.
There also will be scored events in the form of bull riding, saddle bronc and ranch bronc. Contestants must remain on livestock for eight seconds, and both add up to provide a counted score.
The key differences between saddle bronc and ranch bronc riding are the type of saddle used as well as the rider’s grip.
On Monday, registration books opened for bulls and broncs.
Livestock will be provided by Raise’Em Rank based in Canton, S.D. Raise ‘Em Rank produced a show in Geddes, S.D., this past weekend.

There will be three food trucks on site: Indian Tacos of Pipestone, Lunch Shack of Jasper and the Pipestone County Pork Producers. Staci’s Bar and Grill of Woodstock will provide adult libations. Vendors also will be present selling both tack and boutique-style western wear.
There will be a barrel racing qualifier beginning at 7:15 p.m. Friday, and then a breakaway roping qualifier at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Hulstein reported the top-10 finishers in breakaway roping and top-15 in barrel racing will advance to the main show Saturday night.
Admission is $25 at the door (adults), $10 (children 10 years old and younger) and free for youth three years old and younger. Advance tickets are available at Hulstein Excavating in Edgerton.
Keep in mind, tickets for this event will not be sold online, so be aware of possible scams.

Following the rodeo, Iowa’s own Blake Jack and South 35 will provide musical entertainment with their dynamic country sound from 9 p.m. to midnight. The band features Jack on vocals, Travis Wilhite drums, Dave Bloom lead guitar, Christian Williams guitar and Adam Byrne bass.
Diamond H Acres has become a visible part of restoring rodeo tradition to southwest Minnesota. Events will take place “rain or shine,” Hulstein reported.
