LOCAL: This weekend marks Bandwagon Days

Festival is a Russell tradition

RUSSELL — Let the festival season begin.

The community of Russell will be conducting Bandwagon Days this week, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Friday with the Birch Coulee ranch rodeo.

There is no charge to attend this rodeo.

There are plenty of other sports-themed events, including a kickball tournament at 9 a.m. Saturday.

The children’s tractor pull will take place at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Cow bingo follows at noon.

The Bierema Rodeo bull riding and mini-bull riding event begins at 5 p.m. Saturday.

Admission is $20 for adults; $10 for youth ages seven to 17 years old; and children six years old and younger are admitted free.

Rodeo events will be conducted on the grounds off Minnesota State Highway 23 near the water tower.

On Sunday, there will be a children’s fishing tournament at Russell Lake from 10 a.m. to noon.

A car show is slated on South Third Street beginning at 10:30 a.m., with prizes for the top-three entries and a special gift for the first 10 cars to register.

The parade follows at 1 p.m.

Throughout Friday evening and all day Saturday, kids inflatables will be set up at the school park. Food will be available all weekend from special trucks and the Russell Bar & Grill.
