Matthew “Matt” Neil Haraldson was born on May 14, 1993, to Dean Haraldson and Patti (Weatherly) Haraldson in Sioux Falls, S.D. He was baptized on June 25, 1993 at Rose Dell Lutheran Church in Jasper, Minn., and grew up on the family farm near Jasper. Matt attended Pipestone Area High School in Pipestone, Minn., where he excelled in athletics. He was all-conference in football and baseball, an all-conference wrestler, and competed at the State level in wrestling in 2012. That same year, as a graduating senior, Matt earned the title of Male Athlete of the Year. Matt was a social butterfly from a young age, anywhere he went he could make new friends. His contagious smile, genuine kindness, and his ability to make anyone feel at ease allowed him to create many lifelong friendships that continued past high school. Matt furthered his education at South Dakota State University in Brookings, S.D., where he graduated in 2016 with his Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Systems Technology. After graduating, he moved back home and worked as an agronomist for Chandler Co-Op before owning and operating Jasper Seed & Chemical and farming with his dad and brother.

Matt was larger than life. His vibrant personality came through in everything he did. His smile would brighten any room he walked in, his laughter was infectious, and his love for others was always evident in his actions. Matt was hardworking, dependable, and never shied away from doing his share. He was a member of the Jasper Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jasper and was on the endowment committee. Matt also served as the president of the Pipestone Jaycees, was the treasurer of the Jasper Fire Department, board member of the Jasper Development Corporation, board member of the Pipestone Country Club and was the secretary of the Pipestone County Corn & Soybean Growers.

On Sept. 6, 2025, Matt was united in marriage to the love of his life, Macey Zeinstra, at the Jasper ELC. The life Matt and Macey had together was filled with joy, laughter, and so much love. When Matt wasn’t working, he could almost always be found at a golf course, usually with a cocktail in hand. He spent endless hours hanging out with friends and creating lifelong memories with them. Even his style reflected who he was, always bright, bold and unforgettable.

Matt passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at the Pipestone County Medical Center in Pipestone, at the age of 32 years, 3 months and 27 days. Matt’s absence will be felt deeply by those who had the privilege to know him. His memory will live on through his son.

Matt is survived by his wife, Macey (Zeinstra) Haraldson of Jasper; his son, due in January 2026; his father, Dean Haraldson of Jasper; his mother, Patti (Weatherly) Haraldson of Edgerton, Minn.; brothers, Nathan (Emilee) Haraldson of Jasper, and their son Jayden, Austin (Chandler Kempema) Miller of Edgerton, and Justin (Cami Bootsma) Miller of Edgerton; his mother- and father-in-law, Teresa and Merle Zeinstra of Holland, Minn.; sisters-in-law Mallory Zeinstra of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Mariah Zeinstra of Holland; and numerous family and friends whose lives were touched by him.
