Pipestone County Commissioners during their May 13 meeting approved bids for two overlay projects planned for this summer.

The larger of the two projects will be on Pipestone County State Aid Highway (CSAH) 18 from Edgerton north to CSAH 8 east of Holland. Commissioners approved a low bid of $2,639,404.49 from Knife River Corporation, of Sauk Rapids. Three bids were received for the project. The highest was $2,785,048.15 and the engineer’s estimate was $3,125,563.40.

The smaller overlay project will be on the south two blocks of Main Street in Edgerton where utility work was done last year. The Commissioners approved a bid of $118,845.20 from Duininck, Inc., of Prinsburg, for that project. Duininck’s bid was the lowest of two received for the work. The other bid was $119,636 and the engineer’s estimate was $72,209.

It’s not yet clear when the work will begin, but the contracted completion date is Sept. 1.
