Group competed at Southwest Slugfest on Saturday-Sunday, June 21-22

Softball players from Pipestone Area Schools and Russell-Tyler-Ruthton formed a team to play in the Southwest Slugfest at Marshall on Saturday and Sunday, June 21-22.

Players battled extreme heat throughout the event, with temperatures approaching 100 degrees on June 21.

This group was the silver bracket champion, defeating Tracy.

The tournament featured teams from Alexandria, Marshall, Edgerton, Wadena-Deer Creek and the American Legion team from Belview.

It was an opportunity to get better, and all the girls took advantage of that.

Pipestone County Star sports editor Eric Viccaro has assembled this gallery, and took every photo but the group shot — which was contributed..
