REGULAR SCHOOL BOARD
MEETING SUMMARY
A Regular School Board Meeting of the Board of Trustees of Pipestone Area Schools was held Monday, March 24, 2025 beginning at 6:30 PM in Conference Room 1148, MS/HS. This is a summary of those proceedings, which are not to be confused with the official minutes of the PAS School Board meetings, which are maintained by the Superintendent’s Office. Call to Order by Chair Carson at 6:30 PM. Present: Wiese, Taubert, DeBates, Hiniker, Carson, and Likness. Absent: Fruechte. Also present: Kennedy, Peschon, Willert, Moravetz, Pease, S. Backer, K. Kuphal, C. Loving, N. Resch, S. Kuehl, D. Melby, and J. Stukel.
Board Action:
1. Wiese/DeBates/All in favor: approve agenda as presented. 2. Likness/Wiese/All in favor: approve consent agenda as presented. 3. Financials: Wiese/DeBates/All in favor: approve treasurer’s report ($8,838,685.54) for February; DeBates/Likness/All in favor: approve 2023A bonds treasurer’s report ($2,808,031.48) for February; Taubert/Hiniker/All in favor: approve regular bills ($600,131.75) for February; Wiese/DeBates/All in favor: approve high school activities bills ($10,924.04). 4. Taubert/Hiniker/All in favor: approved the district to pay for hotel rooms, sub teacher for two staff members and the intent to use school suburban’s and/or the activity bus for transportation, and an overnight trip on April 27-29 for the State FFA Convention. 5. Wiese/Hiniker/All in favor: approved Policy 409 – Employee Publications, Instructional Materials, Inventions, and Creations. 6. Wiese/Likness/All in favor: donations to high school activities: Robotics; Wiese/DeBates/All in favor: donations to the school. 7. Hiniker/Wiese/All in favor: approved May 20, 2025 as the last day for seniors in good standing. 8. Taubert/DeBates/All in favor: Taubert/DeBates/All in favor: approve gas powered burnisher as obsolete. 9. Wiese/Hiniker/4-2 (Likness & DeBates): approve budget parameters for 25-26 school year as presented. 10. Hiniker/Likness/All in favor: approve non-renewal of a probationary teacher.
Other: Admin and board reports; budget year-to-date (10,975,598.17 or 63%); first reading of 25-26 & 26-27 school calendars.
