Pipestone Area Schools students return to school

Approximately 1,180 Pipestone Area Schools (PAS) students returned to school on Tuesday, Sept. 2 to begin the 2025 to 2026 school year. That’s 19 more than the estimated number of students at the start of last school year.

Joining the students were seven new teachers. Their photos and a brief bit of information about them can be seen in the accompanying photos.

One new feature that will affect the entire school district this year is the new portrait of a graduate. See the related story for more information about that and what it means for PAS.

Another district-wide addition this year is the Achieving, Impact and Momentum (AIM) Award. Superintendent Klint Willert said during the Aug. 25 school board meeting that green boxes will be located in the elementary office, middle and high school office, and the district office, so that parents, students, staff and school board members can nominate staff members for the award. Recognition forms will be located on the boxes.

“It’s the idea that we want to recognize staff who are going above and beyond, doing outstanding work, contributing to the community, contributing to the district,” Willert said.

New at the elementary school level are additions to the playground. There is now a volleyball net, a flag pole and a communication board for nonverbal students.

For the older students, a large salad bar has been added and new soup options will be available in the high school cafeteria.
