PIPESTONE WEEKENDER: Prairie Riders Fun Show Sunday

Registration begins at 9 a.m., with program to follow

The Prairie Riders Saddle Club Fun Show will take place on Sunday, June 29, at the Pipestone County Fairgrounds.

The Pipestone Jaycees co-sponsor the event.

County fairgrounds are located at 422 10th Avenue SE in Pipestone.

Registration begins at 9 a.m., with the first event at 10 a.m.

Beginners 11 years old and younger will be charged $8, with leading allowed. The cost is $15 for all other age groups: juniors (12-17), intermediate (18-30) and seniors (31 years of age and older).

The entry fee covers all events, except “Ride A Buck.”

This is a prize show placing to fifth spot.

Here are the events: pole bending, keyhole, Big O, speed barrels, a two-person barrel flag race, four-person pony express, four in a line barrels, two-person rat race and “Ride A Buck.”

Riders may participate on more than one horse, but must pay multiple entry fees. All participants are asked to wear boots and jeans, and sign a liability release form before competing. A negative Coggins test also is required.
