HILLS — Hills-Beaver Creek tallied 22 second-quarter points en route to a 41-6 victory over Edgerton in the Battle of the Red Rock.
This trophy game was created several years ago; however, Edgerton still has yet to win a single contest in the series. The quartzite trophy itself weighs 20 pounds, and features a designation noted the 35 miles separating the schools.
“Friday was another big game with two good football teams,” Hills-Beaver Creek head coach Rex Metzger said in an email to The Pipestone County Star. “The Battle of the Red Rock is always a fun game for the players and their communities.”

Intensity was heightened, and there was a definitive playoff atmosphere for this contest featuring the top two 9-player teams in the state. Fans surrounded the field, preferring to stand rather than sit.
“I thought we were able to put four quarters together on both sides of the ball,” Metzger added. “We were able to spread the ball around and attack in different ways offensively.”
Metzger extolled the virtues of Edgerton’s team, which plays with physical ferocity — especially on both the offensive and defensive lines.

Howerver, the Patriots finished the game with a convincing 373-196 edge in total offense and Jamin Metzger showed everyone why he’ll be playing football on Saturdays for the University of Sioux Falls.
HBC held Edgerton quarterback Colin Scholten to 28 yards on 4-of-10 passing and two INT (Micah Bush corralled both of them).
Jamin Metzger was 10-of-16 passing for 159 yards and two TD to Brodie Metzger and Micah Bush. Jamin also added 40 ground yards.
