NEW ULM — It was a reversal of fortune for the Southwest Minnesota Christian and New Ulm boys soccer teams this year.

In this battle of Eagles, SWC mustered just one goal off a set piece.

Jonah Uilk blasted a corner kick toward goal, which Silas Van Essen poked in during the 58th minute — which provided the final margin in this contest.

Josiah Hoftyzer had eight saves for SWC.

New Ulm controlled the match with a convincing 10-1 edge in corner kicks, but SWC certainly made the most of that one opportunity.

Jackson Ocampo, Methodius Amoah and Levi Johnson were New Ulm’s goal scorers.

SWC played its home opener Monday evening versus Fairmont. Look for details from this week’s matches in the Sept. 4 edition.
